Following many years working for other people in their organisations (multi-national companies, small companies and Government Departments), I decided to set-up my own marine engineering company.

The company has grown and there are now four different areas where you can benefit from our expertise, knowledge and experience...

Marine Electronics, Marine Electrics, “Superflush” corrosion control system for marine engines and Mains Electrical Systems.

Give us a call - we would love to help you - see "Contact Us" for details.

Peter Burton

Managing Director

Hamble Marine Ltd

Marine Electronics:

Several people have made the observation that what we don't know about radio and electronics isn't worth knowing - very flattering even if not quite 100% true!!!

Certainly we have an unrivalled knowledge of all aspects of Radio Communications and Electronics. Unlike many other firms in the area, we actually have a well-equipped workshop with facilities which include Marconi 2955 Radiocomms Test Set, Bird SWR meter, cross needle SWR meter for on-site testing, RF dummy loads, oscilloscope, test meters, etc.  etc.

And, as if to emphasise this, Peter (and Hamble Marine) was the first registered NMEA Marine Electronics Installer on the south coast.

We also hold a current "Maritime Radio (Suppliers and Demonstration) Licence" issued by OFCOM.

Repairing of faulty marine radio and electronic equipment is usually best left to the manufacturer or service agent (they have all the experience and spare parts to carry out the process much more efficiently than any smaller firm).

We can supply equipment from all the major suppliers and our expertise is the fitting/installation and testing of equipment whether supplied by you or us including DSC radios, AIS units, depth transducers, wind indicators, radar etc.  We are generally a “non-stocking” distributor I.e. we buy in the equipment for a Customer’s specific requirements - you gain because this ensures you get the latest product with the latest upgrades and software and we gain because we don’t have to tie up our money in stock; we pass this saving onto in the form of lower prices and discount off the M.R.R.P.

We are also very good at interfacing your equipment to a common NMEA network so that it all "talks" to each other e.g. Raymarine or Garmin display & GPS, Icom radio and Digital Yacht AIS etc.

Marine Electrics:

Whether it is a bilge pump, battery, charger, navigation lights, interior lights, switch panel, starter motor or alternator, we can probably help.

We can also assist with your "Shore Power" installation - see below.

We can test (and if necessary replace) your on-board systems and fit/install and test new items of equipment whether supplied by you or us.  Look at electrical for some examples.

We use the services of a local firm who can test and (usually) repair your faulty starter motor or alternator at a price that is considerably less than the cost of a new item.

SuperFlush corrosion control system marine engines:

We are proud to be the local agent/distributor for the SuperFlush range of products - the ultimate weapon against salt water corrosion in marine engines.  Superflush permanently fitted units blast salt water out of your engine after each use and eradicates salt build up.  See SuperFlush page for details.

For trade enquiries for SuperFlush kits, contact : Peter on 023 8000 1088 or 07989 557888 or send us an email via this link :

Mains Electrical Systems:

Domestic, Commercial, Industrial and Marine mains installations are also within our field of expertise.

We are fully qualified as Electrical Installers to the new 17th edition Electrical Regulations and our sister company "HML Electrical Services" can undertake many of your electrical installation requirements either directly or under a sub-contract arrangement.

Typical work carried out included fitting a new Consumer Unit, fitting additional sockets in the kitchen, carrying out a "Test and Inspection" (with relevant Report), installation of a complete Shore Power system on a yacht or motor cruiser etc.

We have calibrated test equipment for checking voltage, continuity, insulation, earth impedance and RCD operation, plus "PAT testing" for those organisations that require it.

Summary:

We are members of the BMF and BMEA and all marine work is carried out in accordance with our Terms & Conditions which are based on the BMF standard terms and conditions.  Click here to read.

All mains electrical work is carried out in accordance with the 17th edition IEE Electrical Regulations issued by IET.

We are no longer involved in LPG Conversions - contact Tinley Tech Ltd for further details.
